[New Plugin] Home Control Lights — WiZ & Tuya bulbs, 100% local LAN (macOS)
Hi everyone!Following up my first plugin (Claude Deck) — here is my second one: Home Control Lights v0.6.0, just submitted to the Workshop and pending review.
What it does
Control WiZ and Tuya Wi-Fi smart bulbs straight from your Ulanzi deck, entirely over your local network. No phone app, no cloud round trip — it keeps working even when the internet is down. Keys show the real state of each light (on/off + the bulb's actual colour), readable from across the room.
Actions
1. Light — toggle / on / off for a single bulb, a named group, or all lights. The key icon tints with the bulb's live colour.
2. Brightness — step up/down, set an exact level, or hold the key to ramp smoothly.
3. Colour / Scene — apply an RGB colour, a white temperature, or a scene with one press.
What makes it different
- Every press is verified: the plugin reads the bulb's real state back, re-sends the command once if it didn't land, and alerts you if it still failed — no more "did the light actually turn off?"
- Offline detection: if a bulb stops responding (router reboot, power blip), its keys switch to an OFFLINE warning that tells you the fix (power-cycle at the wall / check the router).
- Groups: define once, use from any key — including "All lights".
- 100% LAN. Tuya bulbs use their local key (fetched once, guided step-by-step from the key settings panel — no terminal needed).
How it works
WiZ bulbs are controlled over UDP (and push state changes back), Tuya bulbs over their encrypted local TCP protocol. The plugin discovers bulbs automatically by scanning every local interface. State changes made from phone apps show up on the keys too.
Requirements
- macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel), Ulanzi Studio 5.0+
- WiZ and/or Tuya (Smart Life) Wi-Fi bulbs on the same local network
- For Tuya: a free Tuya developer account for the one-time local-key fetch

One note for the Ulanzi team: the current publishing guide recommends "Software.MinVersion" in manifest.json, but Ulanzi Studio v5.x refuses to launch a plugin whose Software object contains that key (even alongside MinimumVersion) — the manifest ships MinimumVersion only for now. Happy to adjust anything needed during review!

Thanks @chxdon — that was exactly it! My mistake was assuming Software.MinVersion compared against the app's 5.x version number, so I tested with "5.0" and the plugin refused to launch. With "Software": { "MinVersion": "3.1.9" } it loads perfectly.
