Can't enable meaningful use of the dial

I bought the D100H after seeing a video that said in Davinci Resolve I would be able to just hover my mouse over any parameter setting and use the dial to adjust it, rather than doing it by nudging the setting with the mouse. But all I have found the dial can do is scroll and scrub timelines, maybe zoom in, etc.  Nothing that I can't already do any number of ways, including the dial on my Davinci Speed Editor.  How do I enable it to perform such other adjustments. Clicking on the drop down menu of options just shows the standard hotkey parameters. I tried the Execute parameter but that did not enable anything.
